Step 01 · Pick a jurisdiction
Open the generator. Choose USA or Canada at the top of the form, then select a state or province under Jurisdiction.
This sets the IIN, license-number pattern, date rule, and address defaults.
Or start from the states directory — any tile opens the generator preloaded.
Step 02 · Fill the record
Enter personal details: DL number, name, address, dates, and physical attributes.
Use the field calculators when you need valid samples:
- DL number — state-specific valid format
- DD — Document Discriminator
- ICN — Inventory Control Number
- Fill all — populates every technical field at once
Hover the (i) markers for format rules.
Step 03 · Create the barcode
The result panel stays locked until you ask for it. Select Create barcode and confirm — one credit is spent, and the PDF417, the 1D companion, the downloads and the raw encoded payload all appear together.
Required fields are marked if anything is missing, and nothing is charged until the data actually encodes. Edit any field afterwards and the barcode hides again, so what you see always matches the record that paid for it.
Step 04 · Export and verify
- Download PNG — screen preview and sharing
- Download SVG — sharp print and editing
- Copy payload — raw AAMVA text for debugging
Scan with any PDF417-capable phone camera, hardware scanner, or zbarimg. Validation notes are on the about page.
How credits work
- One credit reveals one barcode. Filling the form, the calculators, the state rules and the sample loader are all free — you only pay at the moment the barcode is rendered.
- Nothing is charged for a failure. The payload is encoded off-screen first; if it cannot be encoded, you keep the credit.
- Re-creating the same record costs another credit. Download the PNG or SVG while it is on screen — the file is yours to keep.
- Buy credits when you need them. Packages are on your account page, payable by M-Pesa, Airtel Money or card. They appear the moment the payment clears, and your balance and every transaction update live.
Reference notes
- US dates are
MMDDYYYY; Canadian dates are CCYYMMDD — Barcify handles both.
- US ZIP is often zero-padded to eleven characters inside the barcode.
- Height shows a live conversion (cm / in) under the field.
- Eye and hair colors use ANSI D-20 codes (BLU, BRN, HAZ…).
- Developers: use the CLI — see About or the project README.
